Silesia Mine, Construction of underground coal reservoir
Czechowice-Dzedzice, Poland
Investor: Przedsiębiorstwo górnicze „SILESIA“ (PG „SILESIA“), Poland
Realised objects:
Construction of the underground reservoir
Access corridor tunnelling
Transport and ventilation corridor tunnelling
161-wall puncture
Description of realisation:
The reservoir dimensions are: height 55,0 metres, diameter 9,0 metres, and volume 3200 cubic metres. The head of reservoir is located on the horizon IV in the depth of 460 metres and staging device (capacity of 800 tons per hour) on the horizon VI in the depth of 556 metres. The realisation included the works from the underground reservoir project evolvement, building the reservoir up to the handing it over to the user. The reservoir utilises the advanced technologies for data transfer to production dispatching including following the maximal level of coal in the reservoir, loading it onto the conveyer, weighing the broken coal and fire-fighting device. The work and material used in the reservoir were subject to strict safety rules effective in Poland for mines of category IV. with appearance of methane.
Construction technology:
The reservoir construction was realised in required quality in accordance with the project documentation. Tunnelling works were performed as a combination of drilling and blasting with following excavation of broken material. Primary lining was realised by spraying concrete reinforced with two layers of steel net and radial anchors. Consequently, the secondary lining was made of concrete of strength 70-MPa.
Construction period: August 2012 – December 2013
